Looking for a simple and fool-proof way to cook rice using your electric pressure cooker? If you are used to cooking rice on the stovetop, it is a bit different than the 1:2 rice:water ratio, so that can take a bit of getting used to, but once you are past that, you can go on to make perfect, pressure cooker rice in no time!
Today I am using long grain white rice and cooking it in my 8 quart GoWISE USA Electric Pressure Cooker but if you have a different variety of rice, hop on over to www.hippressurecooking.com for a very helpful chart on Pressure Cooker Rice Pressure Cooking Times & Liquid Ratios.
Here is how simple making this rice is: dump 1 cup of long grain white rice and 1 1/2 cups liquid {either water or broth} into your electric pressure cooker. Add about a teaspoon of olive oil if you want.
If you are making more than 1 cup of rice, the ratio of 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cups of liquid stays the same {example: 2 cups rice to 3 cups of liquid}.
Other than that, put the lid on, make sure your “pressure” dots are lined up on the pressure valve, and set the pressure cooker to manual cook – 3 minutes on high pressure and walk away and let it do the work!
Once the 3 minute cook countdown is done, set a timer for 10 minutes for the rice to continue cooking and for it to absorb the remaining water.
When 10 minutes is up, release the remaining pressure manually by moving the dot on the pressure valve from “pressure” to “steam” to do a quick steam release.
Once the steam is released and the electric pressure cooker de-pressurized, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
