I am sure this has happened to many out there who are reading this, as has happened to me a number of times before: I have a recipe that calls for pumpkin pie spice, but I don’t have any in the cupboard. Those times can be frustrating. Usually, the pumpkin pie spice containers that I have had are so tiny and they barely last any time at all, which is even more frustrating. After this happening a time or two I simply decided to just make my own! The base I use for it is cinnamon. I then add a little nutmeg and cloves. Now, you will find a wide array of recipes that call for different spices like ginger and allspice, in addition to the cloves or nutmeg. I don’t really care for those in my pumpkin pie spice, so I don’t add them. If you favor some other spices, throw them in a little at a time until it smells right {so scientific, I know…but the sense of smell God gave us is a wonderful thing}!
So, today’s short post is just me sharing this quick tip that I have found useful over the past few years. Hopefully after whipping up a batch of it, you will be inspired to bake some wonderful pumpkin creations….time and time again! Enjoy! -Shelley.

2 1/2 t ground nutmeg
