Today’s post is a recipe that is great to use in replacement of those store-bought taco seasoning packets. Chances are you already have most of the ingredients on hand in your pantry. Why not whip up a batch to have this seasoning mix on hand for the next time you have a hankering to make tacos? I figure about 2 tablespoons – 3 tablespoons of this mix {mixed with about 2/3 cup of water} is enough to season about 1 pound of ground meat. Start with the lesser amount, and if you desire a little more flavor-punch, add a little more.
The basic recipe makes about 4 tablespoons of mix. Depending on how heavily you like your meat seasoned, it is possible to have enough for about 2 pounds of meat. I also multiplied the basic recipe by 10 {using this recipe calculator}, which will make approximately 40 tablespoons of the mix – which is enough seasoning for anywhere from 13-20 pounds of meat/meals, depending again on how heavily you season the meat. Just store the mix in a tightly sealed container and measure out what you need for a specific meal! Enjoy and let me know how you like this homemade taco seasoning packet replacement recipe! -Shelley
